October has always been one of my favorite months for reading. There’s just something about the air turning cooler, the days getting shorter, and the idea of cozy nights with a blanket and a hot drink that makes opening a new book feel extra special. And this October 2025, there are several fiction releases that I think are going to make the month even more exciting for book lovers like us. So if you’re planning your TBR list, here are the top five novels I’m personally looking forward to.
1. The Rose Field by Philip Pullman
Releasing on October 23, The Rose Field is the highly anticipated finale of The Book of Dust series. For readers who loved His Dark Materials, this continuation of Lyra Silvertongue’s story is going to be a big moment. Pullman has a way of weaving fantasy with deep philosophical questions, and his worlds are always so rich and immersive. I’m curious to see how he will bring everything to a close, and I have no doubt this book will be an emotional and powerful end to a beloved series.
2. Twice by Mitch Albom
Coming out on October 7, America’s favorite storyteller, Mitch Albom, is at the top of his powers and authored the book titled Twice. A love story that is enchanting, probing, and clairvoyant in matters of the heart, Twice will make you think, weep, and overflow with love from beginning to end.
3. The Everlasting by Alix E. Harrow
On October 28, Alix E. Harrow will release The Everlasting. Harrow has already proven herself as a master of lyrical and emotional fantasy, and this book promises to be no different. Early previews suggest it will explore themes of time and memory, wrapped in beautiful prose that lingers with the reader long after the final page. Harrow’s writing has a way of pulling you into another world while also making you reflect on your own life, and I think The Everlasting will be one of the standout reads of the month.
4. The Graceview Patient by Caitlin Starling
Arriving on October 14, The Graceview Patient takes readers into a more psychological and gothic space. With its hospital setting and unsettling atmosphere, this novel blurs the line between medical reality and eerie hallucinations. Starling is known for her ability to create slow-burn tension, and I expect this book to be haunting and thought-provoking. It may not be the easiest read emotionally, but it looks like one that will stay with you long after you’ve finished.
5. Remain by Nicholas Sparks and M. Night Shyamalan
Finally, releasing on October 7, A one-of-a-kind novel that grapples with the supernatural mysteries of life, death, and human connection an unprecedented collaboration between the globally bestselling author of love stories like The Notebook and the renowned writer and director of blockbuster thrillers like The Sixth Sense comes Remain by Nicholas Sparks and M. Night Shyamalan. A story about the power of transcendent emotion. Can love set us free not only from our greatest sorrows, but even from the boundaries of life and death? Nicholas Sparks is one of my favorite authors so I really am looking forward to this novel.
All in all, October 2025 looks like a month full of rich and unforgettable fiction. From the grand finale of Philip Pullman’s fantasy series to the tearjerrking romance of Mitch Albom and Nicholas Sparks and the haunting beauty of Alix Harrow, there’s something here for every type of reader. Personally, I can’t wait to get my hands on these books, curl up with a cup of hot chocolate, and let the stories carry me away into long cold nights.
